It won't cycle ammo from the mag to the chamber. they jam when they start in the chamber and the chamber cuts a gouge in the brass about 1/4 inch below the bullet. Also the rim of th hull is real tight sliding under the extracter.

The 1895 Cowboy or 1895 CB has a 26 inch octagon barrel. If you can find one of these made by Marlin (not Remington) it ought to be a good gun. Marlin also made a Limited, or LTD SERIES I-V. The LTD III is the same configuration as the Cowboy, but with an 18.5 inch barrel. These are very nice, and very sought after.

I have both, the .45/70 in a Marlin 18” guide gun and a 26” 1895 CB, and the .30-30’s are 20” Win 1894’s. If you aren’t going to head up towards the Darwin area and hunt water buffalo the .30-30 in the 16” barrel length will be perfect for thick brush goats.

The Hornady FTX is a pointed bullet designed specifically for a tube magazine. The tip is a plastic piece that keeps a safe cushion on the primer in front of it. Bert
